This film magnifies the haunting shadows cast over the lives of those enduring the relentless environmental and health hardships, brought about by the unyielding operations and shortcomings of fair financing by funders of this towering power giant. This video forms part  of three short videos as the storytelling component of the Medupi Impacts Case Study, Living in Medupi’s Shadow: Stories from Lephalale, which was launched in September by the Fair Finance Coalition of Southern Africa.

The film unravels the profound impact of Medupi, the largest dry cooled coal power station in the world, on local women trying to make ends meet in a town that was said to become the next big metropolis in South Africa.   Their daily struggles and hardship are a result of a lack of fair financing by international funders of the power station.
